Pirx the Pilot is a character introduced by Stanislaw Lem, Polish science fiction writer, in his "Tales of Pirx the Pilot" (1968) book. Lem is one of world's most widely read sci-fi writers, and one of my favorites.

Stanislaw Lem passed away on March 27, 2006. He was 85 years old.

Also, "Pirx the Pilot" is a name of a music band from California. "Pilot Pirx" is a nickname of a Czech musician, as well.
